It’s not just about staying focused on the act of writing: It’s about focusing your energy, too

I’ve been practicing reiki on myself each morning for the past month or so, as part of my reiki level I training.

I feel better physically and emotionally when I do energy work, which I expected, but the changes to my creative practice?! I’m really amazed at the big shifts that have happened so quickly.

I’m more open to excitement, I feel safer to receive success and abundance, ideas flow more easily, and writing feels even more fun than before.
And, I’m attracting more ideas and opportunities that really light me up, and finding it easier to steer away from the ones that aren’t serving me.

Focusing my energy and attention where I want them, and holding my boundaries, remind me of the active role I play each day in creating my future through my actions.

And, focusing my energy aligns me to the fullest and most abundant version of what I want: rather than settling for second best out of a scarcity mindset.

I’m feeling this especially this month as I embark on the copyedits for my next book AND do the photo shoot for it. AND the next round of Bloom opens: Which means I can experience all of that joy and expansion while supporting other writers.

It’s wonderful to witness how far I’ve come, while simultaneously experiencing excitement for the future (and to help other folks feel that way too).

Energy work can look many, many different ways, and there are traditions across many cultures for working with energy for healing and expansion. Sometimes, it’s as simple as redirecting your thoughts towards the future you want. That simple act is a powerful way to refocus, and sometimes it’s all you need to start down (or stay on) the path you want to be on.

Next week, I’ll share a couple ideas I work on focusing my thoughts and energy towards expanding my writing practice, so you can put them to work in your life, too.
